Piranhaz

Piranhaz are a really small, easy and fun print with a big bite for their size.

At standard scale Piranhaz measure just 42mm long and 9mm high. They print quickly and should come off the build plate ready to bite and clip / peg things

closed. They are fun and practical as well as being a great gift.

Piranhaz can be scaled up (not down as that will cause the internal clearances to reduce and the print to fuse). Print in your choice of color and, being

such a small print (approx. 6gm filament) you'll want to print lots!

A word of caution: Some slicing apps and/or less advanced machines will find the clearances and bridging challenging. Piranhaz have been test printed approx.

100 times on several different machines with no issues other than a small amount of sticking / fusing that could be readily broken free. However, it is

possible that some machines will struggle to print Piranhaz with free moving jaws.

Pirahnaz work on a similar (but not the same) way as my popular Sharkz design but they are half the size at standard scale. Great fun small prints. Everyone

that sees them will want one!

Two .stl files have been provided. One is just for fun and the other a key fob version.

Notes:
Raft is recommended but not essential. Do not use automated support as it could fuse the moving parts.

This design applies fine clearances and requires good bridging capability. Prints really well in PLA on a well set up / accurate machine with a filament fan.

This should be an easy print for most machines but the fine clearances and bridging may be a challenge for some less advanced slicing apps and/or machines.

As soon as Piranhaz are removed from he build plate (with raft removed) they should be ready to bite. A moderate amount of pressure on the upper and lower

fins may be required to break the jaws free but it shouldn't be hard to do for well set up machines printing in PLA and with a filament fan.

If the jaw / biting action is not smooth a small amount of silicone spray on he moving parts can make a big difference. This won't be required in most cases.

The jaws should bite without the need to apply a lubricant but they will snap closed must faster with it applied.
